5 Aftercare Tips for Your Non-Surgical Nose Job

One of our clients' main reasons for getting a non-surgical nose job is the minimal downtime. This is one of the main advantages of liquid rhinoplasty has over traditional rhinoplasty. It is essentially a walk-in walk-out procedure. All the same, to ensure you keep your results for as long as possible after any cosmetic procedure, aftercare is vital.

From the questions we get, many people want their nose jobs to last as long as possible. Interestingly, one of the most common questions we get is, "Can I wear glasses after a nose filler?" I will be tackling this question as I share five aftercare tips you need after getting a non-surgical nose job.

Don't be scared of the post-nose job swelling or bruising

Straight after your non-surgical rhinoplasty, you may experience some minor swelling, redness, itchiness, and even little bruising around your nose area. Don't be scared and think something went wrong.

These are common after-effects of any dermal filler procedure and are often go away within a day or two. As I mentioned, a non-surgical nose job is a walk-in walk-out procedure, so you can resume your normal activities as soon as you want to.

If the swelling and bruising is a concern, do this

Here at Dr. Aesthetica, we value our patients' comfort and do not take any concerns lightly. If you are concerned about the bruising or swelling, you can use an icepack to minimize the swelling. Over the counter pain medications or topical creams can also help.

However, remember, it's always best to talk to your doctor first before trying any of these options. If it's been more than a couple of days and you still have swelling, contact your doctor to make sure everything is okay.

Can you wear glasses after a nose filler?

Plastic surgeons recommend that patients not wear eyeglasses (medical and sunglasses) for 3 months after rhinoplasty surgery. This because the glasses nose pads can pressure the nose and hinder the proper healing of the nasal bones.

But what about wearing glasses after a non-surgical nose job? How long do you have to wait after your nose filler procedure before you can wear glasses? For these questions, there are no right or wrong answers.

However, our recommendation is for you to wait for at least 48 hours. Now, this might be practical for everyone, more so those who have to wear medical glasses. But it's important to keep in mind that it usually takes some time for your body to immobilize the fillers. So it’s always best to ensure that when you go back to wearing glasses, they are placed lightly on the bridge of the nose.

Avoid the following things for a couple of days after your nose job

For best results, some things are best avoided for a couple of days after your dermal filler nose job. These include:

  1. Don't apply make-up or topical skincare products to the area for 24 hours.
  2. Avoid strenuous exercise for at least 48 hours as this can make the bruising worse.
  3. Avoid too much sun exposure and places with intense heat such as saunas and hot yoga classes for at least a week or two.
  4. Blood-thinning medication like aspirin may increase your bruises and make the recovery period longer. Consult beforehand with your doctor if this is something you need to avoid for a few days.
  5. Massaging or pressing your nose should be avoided since it can alter the shape of the filler.

Things have possibly gone wrong when

Speak to your doctor immediately if you have the following symptoms:

  • Severe pain
  • blurred vision
  • redness, bruising, or discoloration that spreads and gets worse
  • hives or other signs of an allergic reaction

With every cosmetic procedure, even non-surgical ones, there is always the risk of complications. The nose is a sensitive area filled with blood vessels, and don't forget its extremely close to your eyes. This makes it very important to work with a certified cosmetic practitioner since the potential risk goes up exponentially if you put your trust in someone who doesn't know what they're doing.

Also, non-surgical rhinoplasty done with hyaluronic acid fillers is reversible. Read our post: Ultimate Guide to Dermal Fillers Use in Liquid Rhinoplasty to learn more about hyaluronic acid.

So if you don't love your results, you can get your doctor to undo the work. But if you work with a board-certified and experienced doctor like Dr. Baldeep Farmah, you will be more than happy with your results.
