A Guide To Lip Fillers

Last Modified: August 3, 2022

Lip fillers are now incredibly popular in the ever-changing world of cosmetic beauty, and with more and more stunning models and celebrities now endorsing these beauty treatments, it’s easy to understand why that is.

Lip fillers will transform thin, lifeless, narrow lips into full, luscious, plump, and sexy-looking lips in a matter of hours, and best of all is the fact that lip filler injections are very simple and straightforward as well. Whilst being a very safe, and very straightforward procedure, there are still a number of things that people should know before getting lip fillers for the first time.

If you’re thinking of enhancing the appearance of your lips, take a look below as we provide you with a list of things you should know before getting lip fillers for the very first time.

Lip fillers can be reversed

A lot of people who aren’t familiar with lip fillers will say things like ‘if you don’t like the results you’re stuck with them for life’ but this is not true.

If for whatever reason, you aren’t satisfied with your lips, you can reverse the lip filler injection. Lip filler injections require patients to be injected with a naturally occurring compound known as Hyaluronic Acid.

If patients are not satisfied, a specialist enzyme designed to erase the effects of the HA, known as Hyaluronidase can be injected. Here, the lip filler will be dissolved by the enzyme in less than five minutes.

Lip filler results will last for months

Some people seem to be under the impression that lip filler injections have to be carried out every couple of weeks when in reality, this is simply not the case at all. In actual fact, one lip injection of HA can provide noticeable results for as many as nine months, sometimes more.

Your metabolism will determine how long results last

Though most lip filler injections can last upwards of nine months, some people may find results wearing off in less time than that. People with fast-burning metabolisms will generally burn through the formula much quicker than somebody with a slow/average metabolism.

Again, we are still talking months rather than weeks, though those with fast metabolisms may need a follow-up treatment after, say, six months, rather than nine.

Your lips shouldn’t feel any different

When you have lip filler injections, once the initial injection site has calmed down and the numbing cream has worn off etc, your lips shouldn’t feel any different to how they used to feel before. They may look fuller and thicker, but they certainly won’t feel any differently, providing the injection was carried out correctly.

Results are almost immediate and can be startling at first

A lot of people will panic after having lip filler injections, as they will think their lips have swollen up too big. However, the main reason for this is simply swelling, which will subside after a day or so.

Lip filler injection results are noticeable almost instantly, and once the swelling has worn off, you will almost certainly be ecstatic with the results.
