Have you been examining your face in the mirror and thinking about your mid facial volume? If so, you’re not alone.
As we age the skin covering our cheekbones and the tissue that lies beneath begins to recede. This can affect the overall tone of your face. Your cheeks also move down as you age, which leads to your tear troughs drooping and developing dark circles. Mid-face volumising can help you get back the face you use to remember. This common cosmetic procedure uses a bio-friendly dermal filler to increase fullness where it’s lacking. The procedure itself is not complicated and considered low risk.
If you’re 40 years of age or older, or simply want the look of higher cheekbones, we’ve got all the information you need to know about the procedure, its effectiveness, and the risks involved. Don’t wait another day to get the face you’ve always wanted!
Video Transcript
Do you feel like the face looking back at you in the mirror isn’t the same one you remember?
If so, don’t fret.
The ageing process takes its toll on everyone.
But mid-face volumising can give you back that youthful appearance you remember.
In this video we’ll cover the procedure itself, the potential risks, and its effectiveness.
Let’s get started.
TYPICAL PATIENTS
As we age the skin covering our cheekbones and the tissue beneath begins to recede.
This can lead to an overall lack of tone and a thinning of the tissues.
This results in volume loss around and below the eyes, and loose skin.
Your cheekbones also move down as you age, and this movement pulls down your tear troughs resulting in dark circles under the eyes.
Patients that are beginning to experience these things are usually 40 years of age or older, but mid-face volumising can also be great for anyone that wants to appearance of higher cheekbones.
Often times, patients that get this procedure also get an eyelid lift surgery to correct that “tired” eye look.
Typical patients in good physical health before their surgery, and if they are smokers, will need to quit several months before undergoing any surgeries.
This procedure is also common among both men and women.
THE PROCEDURE
The procedure itself involves a bio-friendly dermal filler to increase fullness where it’s lacking.
Well trained Doctors are able to do a lot to the face with the help of filler injections.
One such filler is hyaluronic acid.
It’s nearly identical to the naturally occurring substance found within the body.
When it’s injected, this gel like filler can create volume that wasn’t there before, such as below the lower eyelids, along the jawline, and in deep lines and wrinkles.
Fillers will require multiple injections in each site to make sure everything is evenly distributed.
Depending on your age and situation, a combination of fillers and surgery may be suggested to get the results you’re looking for.
POTENTIAL RISKS
Dermal fillers are considered to be a very low risk procedure, but there have been rare occurrences where a patient has had a negative reaction.
More commonly, patients may experience some bruising at the injection site, and with any surgery there is the risk of infection or bleeding.
More serious, but rare, risks include scarring, slow healing process, and partial paralysis due to nerve damage.
Just make sure you discuss your concerns and the risks with your doctor before undergoing any procedures, and look for a surgeon with lots of experience.
EFFECTIVENESS
The majority of patients are very satisfied with their results after a mid-face cheek lift.
This is because the doctor and patient establish realistic goals and expectations beforehand
Patients who have reasonable expectations paired with expert doctors walk away completely happy with their results..
RECOVERY TIME
The great thing about filler injections is that almost every patient can return to work the next day.
And if there’s any bruising, ice packs can speed up the recovery process.
Patients will notice their tear troughs improve almost immediately, and will continue to improve in the following weeks.
