Dr. Farmah was so thorough, informative, and reassuring. This was my first Botox treatment ever performed on myself, and I used it as more of a preventative method. I started developing a horizontal line across my forehead and worried that it would become more permanent if not targeted right away by a professional. He makes it sound and look so easy. Very professional atmosphere and exceptional customer service. I highly recommend him!

I had few sessions of Micro-needling with Dr. Farmah there. Very happy with my results! The aestheticians are super professionals and kind, the treatment is relaxing and I love to go to this clinic as my break time from work and stress. A little me time once a month for relaxation and beauty. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend! I'm from Bromsgrove, and it is worth the drive! Dr. Farmah truly knows what he is doing. I was nervous because any alteration to the face is scary. I am young and have always had dark circles. No creams, diet, or products helped. I was impressed by how natural his patients looked. I am young, so I did not want the “filler” look. Dr. Farmah did a great evaluation, and did not push me to get the treatment. I truly think he did everything right: deep fillers, microcannula, Restylane. I had very little bruising and swelling, and I went out to dinner right after treatment. Overall, I would absolutely do this treatment with Dr. Farmah again. I look rested and refreshed, and it looks natural! Thank you, Dr. Farmah!

What is dry skin?

What is dry skin

Dry skin is a prevalent condition whereby the skin fails to retain the sufficient moisture it needs. Even if your skin tends to be oily, you can develop dry skin from time to time. Common symptoms of dry skin include inflammation, itching, cracked, flaky or red skin.

What causes dry skin?

It’s important to note, dry skin can affect any part of the body. It can also be due to a number of factors, such as a pre-existing medical condition, changes in weather or diet, medication, and changes in skincare products. For example, a harsh detergent may strip oil and moisture off your skin and cause it to dry out. Researcher shows that in some instances, dry skin can be inherited. In rare cases, dry skin can be caused by an allergic reaction or eczema, and if left untreated, the skin may result in irritation, inflammation, and skin infections.

How do I take care of my skin at home? How do I prevent dry skin?

It is a good idea to avoid taking long hot showers/baths as they dry the skin further. Remember to pat dry and not rub the skin when drying so as to retain some moisture. Don’t forget to apply a good hydrating serum or moisturiser immediately after bathing.

Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water can also help ease dryness.

For dry skin, it is always best to avoid products that contain fragrance, alcohol, parabens or sulphates as this can dry the skin out further, causing irritation.

Hot, dry, indoor air can trigger dry skin and worsen itching and flaking. Using a home humidifier will add moisture to the air inside your home.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I keep my skin hydrated and moisturised?

Moisturising dry skin is not just about applying creams when you feel dry but also using the correct ingredients to attract moisture into the epidermis and keeping it there. AlumierMD has a fantastic range of products that do exactly that. They have humectant properties which means that they will help hold moisture in the skin and prevent it from drying out frequently. These products are rich in consistency and contain key active ingredients that are free from parabens, sulphates, phthalates, petrolatum, artificial fragrances and dyes. With AlumierMD, we can create a highly customised skincare treatment plan that will tackle dry skin and other skin conditions that you may have. Talk to one of our specialists today.

What’s the difference between Dry skin and Rosacea?

Rosacea is a chronic condition that presents as flushing or redness of the cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin. On the other hand, dry skin can appear on any part of the body and appears as scaly, itchy skin. Rosacea is usually caused by genetics but can be easily aggravated by lifestyle choices and improper skincare. With Rosacea sufferers, the hydrolipidic barrier (protective film on skins surface made up of sebum, lipids, water and sweat) is impaired, making the skin sensitive; leading to redness and visible blood vessels. For example, chronic dry skin can compromise the hydrolipidic layer resulting in rosacea.

Professional Treatment for Dry skin?

Skin Peels offer an effective way to help restore hydration and maximise the moisture within the skin layers. Each Peel is hyper customised to your skin exact condition on the day of treatment. A light peel would help with surface-level problems of the skin, such as dry skin, and the procedure takes a very short time. It will rapidly work on removing dead, dry skin as well as cleaning out clogged pores. This leaves the skin clean, even-toned and glowing. There is also minimal downtime with Skin Peels, though all this will be discussed with you during the initial consultation with our skin specialist. We will also provide you with an aftercare kit post-treatment.
