Dry skin is when the skin cannot retain the sufficient moisture it needs. Symptoms of dry skin are inflammation, itching, cracked, flaky or red skin.
Dry skin can affect any part of the body. It can occur for a number of reasons, such as a skin condition, changes in weather or diet, medication, and changes in product use. In rare cases, it could be a mild allergic reaction or eczema, though our Skincare Specialists can help in the meantime. If left untreated, the skin may result in irritation, inflammation and skin infections.
It is a good idea to avoid hot showers/baths as this dries the skin further. Remember to pat dry and not rub the skin when drying.
Depending on the area, a good hydrating serum or moisturiser can help. Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water can also help ease dryness.
For dry skin, it is always best to avoid products that contain fragrance, alcohol, parabens or sulphates as this can dry the skin out further, causing irritation.
