Getting rid of underarm hair on a monthly, weekly, or sometimes daily basis can feel like a chore. I am yet to meet a single person who enjoys shaving their armpits every day! It's tedious, time-consuming and despite all the effort, you always find yourself back to step one (fuzzy underarms).
That's why many people are turning to laser hair removal—a convenient alternative to the hassle of regular shaving and waxing. Laser Hair Removal is a quick yet gentle way of getting rid of unwanted armpit hair with long-lasting results.

Laser hair removal uses an intense, pulsating beam of light to bypass the epidermis and target the pigment in the hair bulb. The hair bulb found at the base of the hair follicle has blood vessels that nourish and grow the hair shaft. The intense heat from the laser damages the hair bulb causing the hair shaft to become weak and limp and eventually falls out. The process is completely safe and leaves the surrounding skin tissue unharmed.
Hair grows in three stages—the active growth (anagen) stage, the transition stage, and the resting stage. Laser hair removal is only effective when hair is in the anagen phase. In this stage, the hair is still attached to the hair follicle and can transfer the laser energy needed to damage it.
Only 10-20% of your underarm hairs are in the active growth stage at a given time. Therefore, you will need a laser treatment cycle to effectively target all the hairs when they are in the active growth stage. The standard is 6 sessions spread over 6-8 week intervals. Keep in mind these figures may vary among different patients. During your consultation, we will determine the exact number of laser treatments you need.
Aftercare for Underarm Laser Hair Removal is relatively simple.
This list is not exhaustive. Before you leave your first session, make sure you discuss an aftercare plan with your laser technician. Follow those instructions carefully to know what you can do and exactly what you need to avoid.
There aren't enough clinical studies available to prove that at-home lasers are more effective than professional laser hair removal. Generally, we recommend avoiding at-home laser hair removal devices.
While they can produce some results, they're very slow to work and most people report that they've stopped using them altogether because the devices were too time-consuming and painful. If you decide to use an at-home laser device, do so with caution and always carry out adequate research about its efficacy.
On average, you can expect a 10% to 25% reduction in hair growth after the first 1-2 treatments. However, to remove the hair permanently, most patients need at least 4-8 laser treatments.
After finishing the treatment course, most people do not experience hair regrowth under their armpits for many years. In some instances, some hair may regrow, but it tends to be sparse, finer, lighter in colour and less noticeable. In such cases, a maintenance laser treatment once in a while is all you need to keep the hair at bay forever.
Underarm laser hair removal is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments. But that doesn't mean just anyone can perform it. While there are many spas that offer underarm laser hair removal at outlandish bargains, a lot of the time, these facilities don't have an experienced professional on staff who can safely perform the procedure.
Yet, all laser hair removal should be performed by a fully qualified practitioner who knows how to operate a laser properly. Otherwise, you expose yourself to the risk of burns, scars, or other serious medical complications.
