Laser Hair Removal Treatment with Splendor X

If you have unwanted hair on your chin, underarms, bikini area, legs or in fact anywhere on the body that you wish you could remove forever (with no more painful waxing, tedious shaving or messy hair removal cream) then we have good news for you.
You can.

What is laser treatment for hair removal?
Laser hair removal treatment is done by using a concentrated beam of light to remove any unwanted hair from specific areas of the body. We use the latest revolutionary new technology for our laser hair removal treatment, called Splendor X by Lumenis.

How does the treatment work?
The treatment works by emitting the laser to the hair, which is then absorbed by the hair’s melanin. The heat this produces damages the follicle and therefore after all of the treatments have been carried out, there will be a very significant reduction in the growth of hair.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is laser hair removal painful?

Here at Dr Aesthetica, we are using the latest and most advanced technology for laser hair removal – in fact, it is the first of its kind. The revolutionary square shape laser spot provides faster and more uniform coverage of the treatment area, with larger spots penetrating deeper meaning no overlap, no burns and no retouching missed areas – therefore causes little to no pain.

Is laser hair removal safe?

Despite what you may have read in the past, laser hair removal technology has come on leaps and bounds in later years. Your safety is of the upmost importance to us here at Dr Aesthetica, which is why we have invested in the latest technology on the market.

Splendor X is not the average hair removal laser, as it uses a blend of two different wavelengths being delivered simultaneously – allowing for the safest, most effective treatment.

Does laser hair removal work on all skin tones?

Yes, our laser hair removal technology can removal hair on all skin types including tanned and darker skin tones all year round. We cater for all hair removal needs and want everyone to feel welcome to come to us.

Is laser hair removal permanent?

No beauty clinic can 100% guarantee to permanently remove hair, as there are many factors in life which can cause re-growth (pregnancy or medication to name a few).

Here at Dr Aesthetica we use the most advanced technology to provide the best possible results for each individual skin type. Therefore during your consultation, we will discuss the best treatment plan for your unique needs in order to achieve optimum results long term.

How many treatments will I need?

On average, the best results are achieved in around 4-8 treatments within roughly a 6 to 12-week period. Of course, this depends on the area of treatment and the thickness of hair. So, some patients may require more sessions and occasional touch-ups once or twice per year to maintain the best results.

How to know if you’re a good candidate for laser hair removal?

Most machines work best for light skin and dark hair, this contrast makes it easier for the laser to target the pigment in the hair follicle. Newer machines, like the Splendor X, have newer technology such as the ability to combine TWO separate lasers (Alex and NdYag) simultaneously to delivery the ultimate in hair removal. Best of all this allows us to treat ANY skin type and TANNED skin.

How does Laser Hair Removal work?

How to prepare for your laser hair removal appointment?

At Dr Aesthetica, we want to see the original hair, so we can assess what hair we are removing. We advise that you stop waxing, tweezing, or plucking hair you want to remove for two to six weeks before your appointment, though shaving is fine.

At your consultation, we will go through your medical history, family history and discuss how we can optimise hair removal. We complete a series of patch tests to determine what settings are optimal. We then advice waiting 7 days before we commence treatment. The day before treatment, we want you to shave the area that will be treated. We don’t advise shaving on the day as this can aggravate hair follicles.

Is it true, does laser help with curly hair and or ingrown hair?

Ingrown hairs cause inflammation, and it’s that inflammation which causes that lumpy, bumpy, angry look of the skin after waxing and shaving.

‘Men and women get ingrown hairs that come up like spots on the legs, bikini or beard area. Sometimes, by using lasers, we can improve that because it destroys the ingrown hairs at their follicles.

Why does it take multiple sessions?

Wherever there is hair on your body there are three phases of growth:  telogen, anagen and catagen phases. Some hairs are resting, some are growing, and some are falling out.

Depending on what cycle of growth they are in, the hair responds differently to lasers,  You could treat one set of hair and it will respond quickly because it’s in the growing or falling out phase.  Others might not respond because they’re in the resting phase.

It is because of these different stages that the treatment takes 8-12 sessions, between 6-8 weeks apart, to complete and catch 90 per cent of hair in its active phase.
