Profhilo Before and After: What To Expect From Your Treatment

Last Modified: October 27, 2022

Why have “Profhilo near me” and “Profhilo before and after” have been among the most popular search terms on Google among UK patients seeking non-surgical cosmetic solutions for their skin concerns?

This matches with what we’ve experienced in our Birmingham-based medical aesthetics clinic with huge increased interest in this treatment.

Profhilo is a patented technology from IBSA Farmaceutici Italia, which has quickly become a champion in the field of skin bio remodeling.

It is the only injectable product that combats skin sagging and signs of ageing through stimulation of collagen, elastin and fat stem cells lost to ageing.

With one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market (64mg/2ml), it intensely boosts the skin's moisture content.

This is made possible by NAHYCO technology, where 32mg of high molecular HA and 32mg of low molecular HA combine through thermal cross-linking to create ultra-pure hyaluronic acid.

As we age, we lose this hyaluronic acid and our skin becomes drier and less elastic, leading to wrinkles and sagging. Profhilo counteracts this process of skin ageing.

When injected just under the skin, it attracts water and keeps the skin hydrated and plump.

The Profhilo treatment also works to stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin cells.

The result of the Profhilo treatment is firmer, more radiant, younger-looking and more hydrated skin.

How does Profhilo compare to dermal fillers, another product containing hyaluronic acid?

Profhilo is designed to integrate into the skin, whereas dermal fillers are designed to stay in one place and instantly add fullness to the skin.

If your priorities are to smooth skin texture, minimise fine lines and achieve a glowing complexion, Profhilo is an excellent choice. Check out the Profhilo before and after below.

However, if you have lost volume in the face and want to restore a beautiful, balanced profile, dermal fillers are probably the most appropriate course of treatment.

What Will Happen During my Profhilo Treatment

First, you will need to have a consultation with Dr Farmah. Click here to find out how to book an appointment and how to get to our clinic.

The purpose of a consultation (and why we always recommend one) is:

Patient safety. A consultation will help you determine the overall suitability of the treatment from a medical perspective.

For example, a credible practitioner will discuss your medical history to ensure that you are  a good fit for the treatment and give you pre and post-treatment advice that is tailored to your individual needs

Credibility. Without a consultation with the practitioner, you will have no way of knowing if they have the necessary skills to carry out the treatment successfully. Checking credentials is also a very important part of this process that you should not skip.

Trust and confidence. The doctor should have no problem being asked questions and should be happy to answer them.

This builds trust and understanding between the two of you. The last thing you want is to have doubt when undergoing an aesthetic procedure!

The Profhilo treatment is a simple and straightforward treatment that typically takes around 20 to 30 minutes.

If you find that a profhilo provider does not offer a pre-treatment consultation or tells you that it's not necessary, then this is a red flag and it is best that you walk away!

First, your skin will be thoroughly cleaned, and you will be administered numbing cream to maximise comfort during the procedure.

Dr Farmah will carefully map out the face according to your individual facial features with bio-aesthetic points (BAP).

These points are spread across the entire cheek area and include a total of 10 injections, which are spread evenly across the face with five on each side.

BAPs

With this unique method, the injection points support progressive diffusion across the widest areas of your face and neck. As a result, maximum results can be achieved with fewer syringes and, by default, less discomfort.

The entire Profhilo treatment process usually takes around 20 to 30 minutes and has no required recovery time for you to get back to your day straight after treatment.

How Long Do the Results Take to Show with Profhilo Treatment?

The Profhilo treatment is a simple and straightforward treatment that typically takes about 20 to 30 minutes.

First, your skin will be thoroughly cleansed and you will be administered numbing cream to make the treatment as comfortable as possible.

Dr Farmah will carefully map out the face according to your individual facial features using bio-aesthetic points (BAP).

These points are spread across the entire cheek area and include a total of 10 injections evenly distributed across the face, five on each side.

With this unique method, the injection points support progressive diffusion over the widest areas of your face and neck.

This allows for maximum results with fewer syringes and therefore less discomfort. The entire Profhilo treatment requires no recovery time, so you can return to your daily routine immediately after treatment.

What to Expect After Treatment?

Redness, swelling or tenderness may occur in the area of the injection. This is normal and usually disappears within a few days. If it's still present or worsens after 72 hours, please contact Dr Farmah.

In the week before and one week after the injection, you should not take blood thinners (medicines and supplements) such as ibuprofen, naproxen or diclofenac, omega-3 fatty acid capsules (or fish oil supplements), garlic, high-dose vitamin E (over 400 IU per day) and ginseng, unless medically necessary or discussed with Dr Farmah.

Alcohol increases the time it takes for the blood to clot and increases the risk of bruising. Please refrain from alcohol at least 24 hours before the injection and after the treatment (for best results, refrain from alcohol 7 days before and 7 days after the treatment).

All makeup will need to be removed prior to the injection. So it's best not to apply any on the day of your appointment.

Treatment is not advised if you have an active skin infection (including cold sores) or are currently taking new medication. Please contact the clinic to discuss any illnesses or new medications before the Profhilo injection.

IMMEDIATE Aftercare - What You Can Do At Home?

If necessary, you can apply a cool compress to the treatment area for 10 minutes every half hour on the day of treatment (do not put ice directly on the skin).

Avoid any heat-inducing activities for 24 hours such as strenuous exercise, spas, saunas and hot showers as these increase the likelihood of bruising.

Avoid facials, waxing, chemical peels, skin needling, microdermabrasion, IPL or laser treatments in the treatment area for 2 weeks.

Profhilo is injected in small 'deposits' that you may see at first, but these usually settle within hours. It is possible that you may feel the product where it has been injected under the skin.

Do not worry, this will settle, you do not need to massage the product.

If you develop symptoms of a vascular occlusion such as severe or dull pain around the eye, face, lips or any place that the profhilo has been injected, any weakness of the eye or vision disruption or dark discolouration of skin with prolonged blanching or mottling of the skin within the first 24 hours of treatment then please contact dr farmah immediately.

although the risk of vascular occlusion is very rare, it requires urgent assessment and treatment.
