6 Daily Skincare Routines to Minimize Ageing

Last Modified: August 9, 2024

Ageing is an inevitable part of life, but that doesn't mean you can't slow down the signs of it and rock young (and healthy) skin for as long as possible.

By making simple tweaks to your daily skincare routine, you can slow down the skin ageing process, and look young for longer.

6 Daily Skin Care Routines to Minimize Ageing

Are you anxious about skin ageing? Want to keep your skin looking young and healthy, but not sure how? In this article, we'll cover 6 daily skincare routine designed to protect your skin and minimize ageing as much as possible.

Use a Cleanser

One of the most important parts of any skin care routine is using a gentle cleanser. This is essential for removing skin care products or makeup you've applied throughout the day, as well as any build-up of pollutants, bacteria, or natural oils. By doing this, you can make your skin a blank slate for the other skin care products you plan to apply.

When considering gentle cleanser options, try to avoid ones with high PH levels as they can irritate your skin. If you do use a high PH cleanser, follow up with a toner to balance things out. The key is to clean your face without dehydrating or damageing your skin.

We also recommend that you cleanse your face in both the morning and the evening. By doing it in the morning, you can remove any of the oil and dust buildups that accumulated while you were sleeping. And by doing it at night, you can remove any of the sunscreen, makeup, or dirt build up you gathered throughout the day.

Moisturize, Moisture, Moisturize

As you get older, your body produces less sebum, which is an oily secretion. While this is good for people who are acne-prone, it isn't ideal for other people because it results in naturally drier skin.

You should look for daily-use moisturizers with ingredients that boost cell turnover, encourage collagen development, and are free from free radicals. By using a high-quality moisturizer, you can re-hydrate your skin, which will make your skin look younger.

Use Skin-Care Products with Vitamin A

Products made from vitamin A are essential for any anti-ageing routine. Retinoids, which are made from vitamin A, are available with or without a doctor's prescription. They encourage the development of collagen, which gives your skin its structure and elasticity.

Retinoids can also exfoliate your skin, which will remove dead skin cells to give your skin a softer look. Just be aware that retinoids can mildly irritate your skin, so you should refrain from over-applying to avoid any skin peeling or rash. Also, make sure to wear sunscreen if you're using retinoids as they make your skin more sensitive to the sun.

Always Use Sunscreen

Did you know that the sun is responsible for most of our skin's visible signs of ageing? Its UV rays break down the collagen in our skin and negatively impact our body's elastin, which causes wrinkles. It also leads to the development of uneven pigmented patches of skin.

If you want to keep your skin looking young for as long as possible, you need to protect your skin from the sun as much as possible. You should use sunscreen every day--not just when you're at the beach. By using an everyday sunscreen, you can fade age spots, flatten out wrinkles, and give your skin the chance to regenerate.

There are many other ways to protect your skin beyond just sunscreen though. Sunglasses, long-sleeve shirts, and hats can all help to reduce your exposure to ageing and dangerous UV rays. And if you still want to be tan, there are many fake tanning sprays and lotions available that will help you get the same glow.

Exfoliate Your Skin & Use Glycolic Acid

In order for your skin to repair itself, you need to stimulate it. Exfoliating three times a week is a great way to encourage this process by removing your dead skin. Just make sure to use the exfoliating scrub at night, so your skin will have some time to recover.

And while you're at it, use glycolic acid. This product not only helps to regenerate your skin, but it can also treat acne and blackheads. You can start off by only using this product on the nights you exfoliate, and once your skin gets used to it, you can start to use it once a night.

Focus on Your Eyes

The skin around your eyes is thinner and more sensitive, so it's one of the first places to show visible signs of ageing. This means you should be more proactive in this area of your skin cream and make sure to use under eye cream.

If you have puffy eyes, use a cream with aloe vera as this will sooth swelling and boost the circulation that has slowed down because of ageing. If you have dark circles, use cream with caffeine. And if you have crow's feet, buy a cream with amino acids, which will encourage collagen production.
