The Best Foods for Skin on the Planet!

The Best Foods for Skin on the Planet!

Your diet has a profound effect on your skin.

Everyone knows that the food you eat directly affects your overall health, including your heart, brain, gut, and blood pressure. You need to eat a varied diet so that you get all of the proper nutrients to help you feel good and get through your days.

Not only does the food affect what's going on inside your body, it affects your skin as well. Today, we're going to talk about the best foods for skin and how you can replace or supplement your skincare products with a healthy and balanced diet.

You're not going to see cheeseburgers and pizza on this list, so turn your focus to healthy nutrient-rich foods instead.

Fatty Fish

Fatty fish like salmon and herring are loaded with omega-3 fatty acids. Not only are omega-3's important for heart health and brain function, but they're great for keeping the skin moisturised.

The omega-3's, vitamin E, and zinc that you find in fish reduce inflammation, which causes acne and redness.

Avocados

Avocados are full of healthy fats that are good for your skin and the rest of your body too. These fats keep the skin moisturised, making it supple and springy.

There's also a good amount of vitamin C and E in avocados, which are both antioxidants that keep the damage from the sun and environment at bay. A lack of vitamin C can result in dry, scaly skin. A fruit smoothie with avocado can be a great source for getting those daily vitamins.

Nuts and Seeds

Walnuts are high in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, both of which affect inflammation in your skin. They're also high in zinc, selenium, and protein; all of which are needed to fight against bacteria and inflammation.

Sunflower seeds, too, are high in selenium, zinc, and protein. Just one ounce per day gives you a good portion of your RDI for these things.

Things From the Ground

Let's talk about vegetables. Sweet potatoes are high in something called beta-carotene, which can be converted into vitamin A, which can act as a natural sunblock. Just 100 grams of sweet potato has enough beta-carotene to give you 4 times the RDI of vitamin A.

Bell peppers and broccoli are also high in vitamin A. Red and yellow peppers (and tomatoes, for that matter) are also high in vitamin C, which helps produce collagen. Broccoli contains sulforaphane, which is a skin-cancer fighting agent.

Green Tea

Green tea contains something called "catechins", which help protect your skin against sun damage. Drinking green tea helps reduce redness from sun exposure while improving the moisture, roughness, thickness, and elasticity of the skin.

It also has many other health benefits, like improving brain function and fighting cancer.

The Best Foods for Skin Are Also Delicious

When you start researching the best foods for skin, you should also look for tasty recipes that are full of these kinds of foods. A vegetable-heavy diet that includes some fish and occasional meats will go a long way to improving not just your skin, but your overall health. It's about time we all think more about what we eat.

review rating 5  Pleasant experience! I went for a consultation where I had all my questions answered and the procedure explained to me. I decided to go ahead with the procedure a week later. Although I was nervous and hesitant on the day, my concerns were listened to, and the doctor took his time explaining everything. I wasn’t pushed for the procedure, and I had the option of leaving if I didn’t feel I was ready. I am glad I decided to take the plunge- happy with the results and experience I have had. I would highly recommended!
