Why are Sagging Brows are so Common?

As one ages, collagen on the facial skin degrades—causing our skin to become weaker and thinner, and our facial muscles lose the ability to bounce back. The pull of gravity on the skin also becomes stronger. After decades of constant facial expressions (smiling and frowning) and being subjected to the effects of gravity, the eyebrows can begin to droop. In addition, the eyebrows tend to lose their arch, becoming more horizontal.

The end result is often a heavy-looking upper eyelid, with many people complaining that the droopy brows make them look older, tired and angry. Also, sagging eyebrows can block part of a person’s vision by making it hard to see past the eyelid skin.

To counteract sagging brows, people often lift and contract their forehead muscles. However, compensating for the sagging this way can cause deeper creases to appear in the forehead—compounding the problem.

Sagging Brows Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get rid of my Sagging Brow without surgery?

In the past, most people had to turn to surgery to tackle drooping brows. This is no longer the case! A great alternative to surgery is non-surgical brow lift, popularly known as the liquid brow lift. This is a minimally invasive procedure that uses Botox® injections to elevate sagging brows

A Botox brow lift has several advantages over a surgical brow lift. For one thing, it has a lower upfront cost. Botox injections typically cost a few hundred pounds, compared to a few thousand pounds for a brow lift.

There’s also a minimal recovery time after Botox, and you can get back to their regular activities pretty much right away. A Botox brow lift doesn’t require incisions and leaves no scars.

How does Botox® treatment for Sagging Brow work?

The face has muscles that hold the skin up while others have a downward pulling effect. Ageing, facial expressions and gravity also contribute largely to the downward pull. This is what causes the eyebrows to sag eventually. Botox® counters this downward pulling effect by relaxing the muscles at the outsides of the Brow that pull it down, allowing the forehead muscles to lift the Brow with less opposition. This non-surgical approach can be used to recreate a more arched, youthful brow.

During this procedure, Dr Farmah will administer a series of virtually painless injections that give the tail ends of the eyebrows a lift that opens up your eyes and provides you with a fresher, more youthful look.

It’s vital this procedure is carried out by a doctor specialising in facial aesthetic rejuvenation as incorrect placement of the Botox® injections can make the brows droop worse.

When do I see results, and are there any side effects?

The Botox treatment for Sagging Brow is generally pain-free. That said, it possible to experience some discomfort; that’s why we offer the option of using numbing cream on the area. As with any cosmetic procedure, there’s a potential for side effects. However, these are mild and often clear within a few days. Common side effects include bruising and swelling on the injection sites.

Optimal results will be seen within 1-2 weeks of treatment and tend to last for 3 to 6 months. Still, it may last longer depending on your skin’s natural genetic make-up.
