Considering A Non-Surgical Nose Job in The UK? Top 5 Things To Look At When Choosing Your Doctor

Last Modified: July 21, 2024

Are you considering getting a non-surgical rhinoplasty? One of the first things you'll need to do is choose who will carry out the procedure. But what kind of criteria should you use? Here are the top five things to look out for for non surgical nose job doctor suitability.

Is he/she a doctor?

You might be surprised to know that the non-surgical cosmetic industry in the UK is not regulated! Literary anyone, regardless of their qualifications or experience, can carry out cosmetic procedures like injecting nose fillers. That's why a quick search of 'lip filler in Birmingham' on your phone and you end up with a massive list of practitioners is nowhere near enough. Just because someone appears on our Google Search results does not mean they are qualified to carry out cosmetic procedures.

And do not be tricked with terms like non-surgical or non-invasive; every procedure, no matter how simple, carries potential risks to our health. That's why you always need to work with a doctor! You can quickly check if someone is a real doctor on the General Medical Council(GMC) Registry here. All you need are their names or, better still, request them for their seven-digit GMC number. Our resident doctor at our clinic is Dr. Baldeep Farmah—GMC number 7000256.

What are the qualifications, experience and suitability of the doctor?

Once you have determined if the practitioner is a real doctor, the next step would be to determine if they are qualified to carry out a non-surgical rhinoplasty or any other non-surgical cosmetic procedures you might be interested in. Ask which institution they carried out their training in. Is it a recognized aesthetics training center in the UK? Don't be afraid to ask for proof of their training, e.g., a certificate. For example, Dr. Baldeep Farmah qualified in aesthetics with Derma Medical Training Academy. His lifelong commitment to learning continues through his passion for teaching aesthetics and the various dermal filler procedures at the prestigious Derma clinic.

Once you have confirmed they indeed are trained to carry out the procedure, it's time to inquire about their level of experience. How many non-surgical rhinoplasties do they carry out every year? For how long have they been doing the procedure? What is their experience with patients with an issue similar to yours? Ask for a portfolio of Before and After pictures.

Is the cosmetic clinic and doctor insured?

Does the doctor and his clinic have insurance covers? This should be among the first questions you ask every aesthetics doctor you consult. Insurance is very crucial. It helps protect the clinic, its staff, and clients from incidents and risks such as fire, theft, accidents, legal costs incurred from claims of negligence and equipment breakdown. If a doctor has insurance covers, he acknowledges the complicated risks surrounding cosmetic procedures and will be more careful as they carry out your treatment.

What are their Covid-19 safety measures?

Coronavirus (COVID-19)has definitely changed the way we go about our lives. As the situation with COVID-19 continues to change and develop, everyone has to do their due diligence to stay safe and healthy. This includes the clinic you are considering getting your non-surgical rhinoplasty. What are their COVID-19 safety protocols, and are they adhering to the set government health regulations. At Dr. Aesthetica, our patients' safety is of utmost importance. We are committed to keeping everyone who comes to our clinic safe. You can read our comprehensive COVID-19 safety precautions here.

What do other people say about the suitability of the doctor?

Anyone can blow their own horn, but it's what other people say about us that can indeed reveal who we are. Other people's opinions can help you determine the suitability of the doctor you are considering for your procedure. Some places you can scour for these opinions include:

  • Google reviews-for the most part, can be a fair estimation of a business's standing. Also, Google is getting smarter and better about catching fake reviews. Take a moment to read some of our Google reviews.
  • Social media & YouTube- The power of social media can't be denied. Though it should never be the only criteria you base your decision on, a cosmetic doctor's social media following and engagement can paint a better picture of how good they are. Good cosmetic doctors are generally quite popular on social media, especially on photo-intensive Instagram. People are known to be brutally honest on social media. So take some time to read through comments on some of their posts. (Follow Dr. Aesthetica on Instagram.)YouTube is not on the rise for no reason. Many people say videos have helped their decision process since they educate and inform you in a simple, easy to grasp way. Find out if your doctor has videos on YouTube or other platforms showcasing his work with other patients.
  • Press coverage-Media coverage can also give you some insight into the doctor's work. Ask them if they have been featured in any local or international publications. Request links to the articles/videos and see what was said about their practice or work. Remember, all this is to help in your general assessment of the suitability of the doctor. Check out our press coverage. Dr. Aesthetica has been featured on BBC, Refinery29 UK, among others.
